Q1: When you consider that the foreign exchange market has become the world’s largest financial market, with over $1.5 trillion USD traded daily, where does it go from here?

A7: The retail forex market is in essence betting, as with any bookmaker there is always a risk that you will not get your winnings, or the odds will be highly stacked against you. With tighter regulation and increased competition, this risk of default has largely disappeared. The risk of price manipulation still exists and this will never really go away. Investors need to ensure that they have an independent price source and trade with a broker who offers true one click dealing. Most brokers work on the basis of the law of large numbers, acting like the bucket shops of 50 years ago, they do not hedge any positions and are directly competing against there clients. This will always lead to price manipulation and further actions by authorities will inevitably be taken.
Q8: What is this best way for “currency rookies” to get involved in the market?
A8: Like with any new form of trading you need to know what you are doing, especially as there is margin involved. Take all the time you need to learn this new trading skill well — practice everything you learn with a demo account before you consider going ‘live’ with your own money. Everyday, currencies are traded in an international foreign exchange market, otherwise known as the forex market, with the main marketplaces (otherwise known as bourses) existing in the world’s financial centes New York, London, Tokyo, Frankfurt and Zurich. Historically, the only way to participate was from the trading floor of one of these bourses, but today, people can trade forex from anywhere through a secure internet connection and a PC.
Today’s traders operate in a global network, taking positions in the market and making investment decisions based on either relative value between two currencies, or a particular currency’s actual price. Currency value fluctuations are constantly renegotiated through trading activity, and this activity, and the corresponding currency values are also indicators of the levels of currency supply.
An example of market behaviour greater demand for the Euro might indicate a weakening supply. Low supply and increased demand will drive the price of the Euro up against other currencies like the dollar, until the price better reflects what traders are prepared to pay when short supply exists. Another way to look at this situation is this higher demand means it will cost more dollars to buy the Euro, which equates to a weakening of the dollar in comparison. Analysis of situations such as in this example forms the basis for a trader’s investment decisions, and they will purchase or sell currency accordingly.
This should be remembered, as while many see the foreign exchange market as the vehicle for converting their home currency while travelling abroad, many others choose to use the market to advance their financial position and secure their future.

Forex is a nickname given to the foreign exchange, a vast trading market in which the commodity is money itself. In the forex market, traders are buying and selling foreign currencies — trading dollars for euros, pounds for yen, and so on.
The forex market is profitable because national currencies fluctuate from day to day based on predictions of the nation’s gross domestic product and other factors. As with the stock market, the idea with forex is to buy low and sell high: Purchase a lot of a particular currency when it’s weak, then sell it when it becomes stronger.
For example, bad financial news in Great Britain means that forex traders will be selling off their British pounds as fast as possible, as the pound is about to become devalued. Once the pound recovers, those traders will sell it for something else, thus turning a profit.
Though we talk of “buying” and “selling” pounds, euros, yen and francs, the transactions performed in the forex market are not literal. That is, if you want to buy 100,000 euros, you don’t have to withdraw the equivalent U.S. dollars from your bank account and swap them out for a big stack of euros. Everything is done on paper, though the resulting profits and losses are real.
Because the transactions are not done physically, there is room in the forex for what are called “margins” or “leverage.” Put simply, this means you don’t have to actually put up the full amount of the purchase you’re making. Usually the margin is 1%, meaning that when you put $1,000 into it, you’re actually getting $100,000. Margins will also multiply your losses as well as your profits, so you have to be very cautious.
One of the reasons for allowing a 100:1 margin like this is that the major world currencies in the forex market usually fluctuate less than 1% a day. (In the stock market, a typical stock might fluctuate as much as 10% in one day.) With changes that small, your daily loss or gain on an initial investment of $1,000 would be almost imperceptible, usually less than $10 either way. By multiplying it by 100, the gains and losses in the forex market are more pronounced.
With leverage implemented that way, the basic “lot” for buying and selling currencies is usually 100,000 (which of course only cost 1,000). Most forex market firms that handle day-trading on the forex market don’t go below that.

invest money into a real Forex account until you practice on a Forex Demo account! Allow at least 2 month for demo trading. Consider this: 90% of beginners fail to succeed in the real money market only because of lack of knowledge, practice and discipline. Those remaining 10% of successful traders had been sharpening and shaping their skills on demo accounts for years before entering the real market.A good demo account to start practicing with could be, for example, FXGame from Oanda.
Tip 3. Go with the trend! Trend is your friend. Trade with the trend to maximize your chances to succeed. Trading against the trend won’t “kill” a trader, but will definitely require more attention, nerves and sharp skills to rich trading goals.
Tip 4. Always take a look at the time frame bigger than the one you’ve chosen to trade in. It gives the bigger picture of market price movements and so helps to clearly define the trend. For example, when trading in 15 minute time frame, take a look at 1 hour chart; trading hourly would require obtaining a picture of daily, weekly price movements.
If a trend is hard to spot — choose a bigger time frame. Up and down market patterns are always present. Always make sure you know the dominant trend, unless you are a scalper.
